Sense Lingerie Easy Bra Measurements
This should only be used as a guide and not the only source when purchasing your bra.
These are general bra measurements for a majority of women. This may not work for all women, since breast are not all similar and may change in weight, density, size, shape and spacing between breasts. We suggest to all of customers to have at least one professional breast fitting or a new fitting if there is a significant change in body weight or shape. Also these measurements are completed in US bra measurement sizes. Also, please see custom charts available on bra ordering pages that will give you a better fit with that specific brand. Before you begin:
- You will need a good, non-stretched tape measure.

It’s more comfortable to have another person to take your measurements for you, whenever possible you should allow a friend to assist you with taking your measurements. This way you can assure that you are in a relaxed, comfortable position.

Stand up straight and relaxed.

Wear a comfortable bra, but do not take measurements over your clothing.
Measurements:
Under Bust Measurement: Measure around the chest directly under the breast at a constant height with the cloth measuring tape.
Band Size Measurement: If the under bust measurement is less than 33 inches, then for Under bust measurement is an even number, add 5 inches to the total or if the measurement is an odd number, add 6 inches to your total. If greater than 33 inches, then for the Under bust measurement add 3 inches to the total or if the measurement is an odd number, add 4 inches to your total. This total is your bra band size.
Full Bust Measurement: Now measure around the fullest part of the breast. Be sure that the measuring tape is flat all around your frame, shoulders are natural and your arms are relaxed.
Cup Size Measurement: To determine your cup size, you will need the difference between your Under Bust and Full Bust Measurements. So subtract Full Bust Measurement from Under Bust Measurement, to get your cup size. Then compare that total to the chart below:

International Bra Size Conversion
Remember online that there are many variations of the bra size measurement charts. Also, there are differences with sizes that almost look exactly the same. For example, the US Bra size is a 36C, where in the UK it’s the same as the size 36D. So when the manufacturer of the bra shows differences in measurement, you should always go with the manufacturer. That’s why it’s a good practice to keep your measurements available and not just your bra size.
For converting your bra size to an international size, please visit the 85b website. We found it to be the most accurate international bra size conversion site. Plus it’s very easy to use. You can view the site at http://www.85b.org/bra_conv.php.
For most of our European bra sizes, we have already converted to the US Bra size. So if you live outside of the US and see a European brand, you should order by the US Bra size. Natural Bra Measurements
As Bra Measurements is not an exact science, you can naturally find the best fit for you by noticing the following with your current bras. This will help you select the best size and style for your personal taste. You will also find that you may need a specific bra for a specific style of clothing. For example, my favorite brand is Le Mystere. I love the Tisha for an everyday comfortable style that goes with almost everything, but I have a group of sexy tops and dresses that look great with the Sculptural Push-Up Bra.
Cups
You may need to adjust your breasts as they should be fully contained in the cups. The cups should fit smoothly and comfortably around the breasts. Pay particular attention that there is no over-spill or bulging, as this may indicates that the cups are too small. If it’s too small or too large, than try moving up or down a size, for example if it’s too small and you were a D, try a size DD. If there is no difference or very little, then you may want to stay with the same size.
Bra Band
The band surrounding your bra should be firm and comfortable. Stand in a mirror and carefully look at the bra band around the entire body, including the sides, back and underneath the breasts. Fasten your bra on the loosest hook, as this will allow you to tighten the bra when it has been worn for a while, as all bras stretch over a period of time. If the bra band feels too tight, then you may want to move up a size, for example go from a size 34 to 36.
Shoulder Straps
Adjust the shoulder straps to ensure they are not too loose. They should feel secure and comfortable. With most bras, the shoulder straps are adjustable, so you should not have to change size due to the straps alone. One thing to consider is to have a bra with removable straps. This is a great option, since you may want to change to temporary straps that are transparent or decorated. This is also good if something happens and the strap is ruined and you need to replace it.
Underwires
The underwires should lie flat against your body and never poke out or dig in. The better quality bras are very good at using the best. You should never accept a brand that is not comfortable and you should consider that a warning when purchasing other bras under that same brand.
